We share two passions - fly fishing and fine wine growing. Both require patience, skill, and artistry. We take the same pleasure in creating a natural cast as we do in creating these delicate and sensuous wines.

After discovering Cabernet Franc on a trip to the Loire Valley in the mid 1980's, Rob Hampton and Thom Arcadi, both home winemakers and fly fishing buddies, began their quest to duplicate the seductive variety at home in California. After researching and successfully finding an ideal vineyard site in the Napa Valley, they debuted in 1996 with their Cabernet Franc. In 2003, Claudia Sansone joined StoneFly Vineyard as a partner. StoneFly is now considered one of the leading producers of Cabernet Franc, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, in Napa Valley.

Rob Hampton is a true Renaissance man. As a top cosmetic dentist to most in the Valley, he also is an acclaimed artist and sculptor. His skills as a vintner have earned him much respect in the Napa Valley wine industry. He is hot in the kitchen too.

Claudia Sansone boasts a fantastic culinary resumé. From writing cookbooks to running her own cooking school to rubbing elbows with some of the world's best-known chefs, she has extensive, hands-on experience in kitchens around the United States and Europe. Claudia is equally at home in television studios, working with celebrity chefs like Michael Chiarello, Jacques Pepin and Joanne Weir.
