The Land
StoneFly Vineyard is situated in the southeastern corner of the world-renowned Napa Valley. Nestled at the base of Mt. George, protected from harsh climatic variations, the Cabernet Franc vines thrive on volcanic soil with superior drainage.
Additional Cabernet Franc tonnage is sourced from Monticello Vineyards in east Napa. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in the cooler-climate, volcanic terrain atop Napa Valley's Atlas Peak.
The Vineyard
Planted in an east-west configuration, the vines benefit from optimal sun exposure throughout the day.
The Winemaking The wines are handcrafted utilizing Old World Chinon-style methods from the Loire Valley. In order to obtain optimum flavor and proper balance of sugar and acid, the fermentation is carried out in small bin lots.
- The Cabernet Franc is aged for one year in neutral oak barrels and one year in the bottle.
- The Cabernet Sauvignon is aged for two years in 25% new French oak, 25% new American oak, and 50% neutral oak barrels, and one year in the bottle.
